Extend Your Stay
Extend your 1-year visa to a 2nd or 3rd year by completing "Specified Work" in regional areas.
Get a 2nd Year
Complete 3 months (88 days) of specified work*.Includes plant/animal cultivation, fishing, tree farming, mining, and construction in designated regional postcodes.
Get a 3rd Year
Complete 6 months of specified work during your second year.
Warning: Keep pay slips and evidence. "Cash in hand" jobs do not count and will lead to refusal.

Farm work, construction, and hospitality count towards your extension.
The Strategy
Don't just pick fruit. Plan for Permanent Residency (PR).
The "Try-Out"
Use your 6-month work rights to impress an employer. If they like you, they may sponsor you for a TSS (482) Visa. This allows you to stay longer and potentially get PR.
The Study Switch
Can't find a sponsor? Apply for a Student Visa onshore to skills in high-demand trades (like Carpentry or Chef) that lead to migration.

Can I Look for Jobs on a Visitor Visa?
This is a common question. Here is what you can and cannot do.
Allowed
- You can attend job interviews.
- You can attend business meetings.
Not Allowed
- You cannot start working.
- You cannot do unpaid work "trials".
The Strategy
If you get a job offer, you usually must leave Australia and apply for the work visa (Subclass 482) from offshore. We guide you on this transition to ensure you don't breach visa conditions.
